The Minister of Communications, Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat awarded the champion trophy and a cash prize to Livia Leong Hui Teng, a Year9 Science1 student of Chung Hwa Middle School, Bandar Seri Begawan, for being the National level champion during the recently concluded 2017 International Letter-Writing Competition for Young People in conjunction with the celebration of the Postal Day. The event was conducted on 28 October 2017 at the Ministry of Communications (MinCom).
Chung Hwa Middle School BSB Wins Big in the Oratory Competition in Malay Language for non-Malay students
Chung Hwa Middle School BSB made a clean sweep at the Oratory Competition in Malay Language for non-Malay students. Organised by the Tiong Hwa Community, the final of the competition was held on 25 October 2017 at Darussalam Hall, Chung Hwa Middle School, BSB. Gracing the event as the guest of honour was Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, the Minister of Education. Other dignitaries who attended the event were Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin, the officials from the Ministry of Education, renowned Tiong Hwa leaders, teachers and students.
Students from Chung Hwa Middle School, BSB achieved outstanding results when they participated in the University of New South Wales International Science competition and Assessment for Schools. Those students whose achievement was outstanding were rewarded with Certificates of Credit, Distinction and High Distinction.
Recently, Chung Hwa Middle School, Bandar Seri Begawan took the initiative to teach Primary 6 students how to plan their time properly and how to learn in a relaxed and effective manner, so that they will be fully prepared for the upcoming Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (PSR).
11 Chung Hwa Middle School, BSB pupils and students were awarded High Distinction (the top 1% of participants) wherein seven of them were gold medal winners when they participated in ICAS-English this year conducted by University of New South Wales, (UNSW) Global Pty Limited*, Sydney Australia.
Chung Hwa Middle School BSB has achieved numerous glorious achievements in several sport events organized by the Ministry of Education for selected private schools in the country.
In conjunction with the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of His Majesty the Sultan Dan Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s Accession to the throne, the committee of the Chinese Community, Brunei Darussalam organised an oratory competition in Malay Language for non-Malay students to take part. The preliminary round successfully ended on the 7th of October 2017.
In conjunction with the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival, CHMS Kindergarten recently launched a number of fun activities from 2nd to 4th October.
The activities done included class Moon Cake-Making, ‘Teaching of the Legends’, Story Telling, Lantern Making, Song and Poetry recitations.
Shamita Thanushri Sures and Mandy Briettany Teo Hui Mei won second and third places respectively in the 7th Yayasan Secondary School Oratory Competition held on 31st August 2017. The two were among 20 other students from 11 private schools that took part in the said competition.
Chung Hwa Middle School sent 8 Year9 scouts for this course namely, Eric Wong Kai Hung (Leader), Ling Mei Shiaw (Asst. Leader), Ling Tze Houng (Quarter Master), Natasha Au Wen Sing, Natasha Lim Jia En, Shirley Ng, Ng Ken Yon and Tang Chee Kiong and two Scouts Masters namely, Skipper Kwan Fui San and Mr. Liew Sie Ping to the 7th Patrol Leadership Course 2017.
