Chairman’s Message

Chung Hwa Middle School, Bandar Seri Begawan is celebrating its 99th anniversary this year. In the blink of an eye, the centennial celebration of the school will be upon us.

Last year, the COVID-19 pandemic struck and brought about unprecedented difficulties and challenges. However, despite the hardship that we all endured, we managed to rise to the occasion. Under the wise leadership of Kebawah Duli yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam the economy has been progressing steadily and people have been living a peaceful life.

Over the past 99 years, CHMS has been undergoing continuous reforms, which have seen the school integrating innovation and Microsoft applications in our teaching and learning activities. Unequivocally, this has brought about a new way to education, and further promotes the development of 21st century skills among our students. Moreover, not only does the school place equal emphasis on the learning of the Chinese, English and Malay languages, but also on creating a conducive learning environment where our students are developed into all-rounders in the moral, intellectual, physical, social and aesthetic domains.

The internet and social media have become an indispensable part of our students’ life, giving them additional platforms to be more creative and expressive. This, in turn, provides more opportunities for our students to gain new knowledge, to discover more about world issues, and to sharpen their thinking skills.

In line with the above, modern technology is being fully utilised in our classrooms to facilitate the presentation of lessons in a clear, attractive fashion. Apart from that, our students are encouraged to apply 21st century skills in their lives, further enriching themselves and cultivating their other talents.

In order to nurture more and more exceptional individuals among our students, we must keep up with the changing nature of this era, and constantly work on improving all aspects of our beloved school.

I strongly believe that as we continue to provide quality Chinese language education and embrace Chinese culture, we are contributing to the success of the education sphere of Brunei Darussalam, and the sustainability of the school’s development.
